NIAAA National Conference  

The 2016 NIAAA National Conference will be held in Nashville, Tennesee from December 9-13, 2016. The preliminary conference schedule, as of July 14, 2016, may be viewed by clicking here.



2016 MIAAA Male Scholar Essayist   Greg Vigue 2016 Male Essayist

Greg Vigue 2016 Scholar Essayist

Greg Vigue of Maine Central Institute is shown with his plaque for being selected as the MIAAA male scholar essayist. He is pictured with members of a youth football camp he was working. Greg also won the Section I award for the top male essay for New York, New Jersey the New England States and will compete for the NIAAA national award.


Brunswick HS Senior John Murphy Honored   The MIAAA is very pleased to report to you that John Murphy, a senior at Brunswick High School, who created the MIAAA male student essay winning report and presented at our spring conference luncheon has been selected as the NIAAA Section I male winner for 2015. This selection earns John an additional $ 1,500 in scholarship, a plaque from the NIAAA and the opportunity to compete as a part of the elite 8 scholar essayists in the country for the national championship. We congratulate John and Brunswick High School for this outstanding representation of the quality of work by student athletes in the state of Maine.

The Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (MIAAA) is proud to provide a new nonprofit service designed to assist families in being properly educated about the athletic collegiate recruiting process. The Recruiting Education Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) 3 nonprofit venture, is now providing MIAAA with recruiting webinars for high school athletes and their families in the state of Maine. The Webinar will cover the following topics:

• Three rules of being a parent
• Scholarship myths and facts
• NAIA and JUCO education
• Scholarships, do they differ?
• The Name Game
• Negotiate/Cooperative Education
• Dangers of social networking/cell phones
• National Letter of Intent
• NCAA/NAIA Eligibility Centers
• Recruiting Services
• NCAA core course requirements

The Webinar, which lasts about 50 minutes, is available at no cost and may be accessed by clicking here.


MIAAA Professional Development Program  

The MIAAA is sponsoring a Professional Development Program in which professional training is being offered throughout the state on a variety of topics in athletic administration. Click here for more info.
